Starting in September 2025, for 10 hrs a week (Monday all day and half-day Tuesday morning) this free, 12-week Skills Bootcamp is for people aged over 19 who looking for a rewarding career in the healthcare sector where your skills can make a real difference everyday.
This face-to-face programme will equip you with essential skills including the nationally recognised Care Certificate, infection control, moving and handling, and person-centred care approaches. You'll learn from industry professionals who bring real NHS and care home experience directly into the classroom.
On completion of the course our network of employers will guarantee an interview with local nursing and care homes actively seeking qualified staff. Our dedicated Work Placement Officers will support you throughout the course and beyond, ensuring you're not just job-ready but career-ready.

Week 1 Induction Day and Vacancy Profiling: Welcome to College. Teaching Team, Standards and Expectations for the course. Logging into IT Systems. Employers to co deliver the session on the vacancies and the working environment
Week 2 Lifespan Development (PIES): Presentation in teams on the effects of ageing through the Lifespan
Week 3 Legislation and Policy: You will be introduced to duty of care and roles and responsibilities followed by a peer quiz to underpin practise and process
Week 4 Health and Nutrition: This is your opportunity understand what keeps us healthy and go onto create a Public Health Display
Week 5 Infection Control: Working with staff and employers you will learn how to develop and produce clinical information on an article
Week 6 Moving and Handling: Working with a professional health worker you will learn the basic of moving and handling and complete a practical assessment
Week 7 End of Life Care: Working with employers invited as guest speakers you will explore case studies and assess individual needs with person centred values.
Week 8 Safeguarding: Working with employers invited as guest speakers you will learn the essential fundamentals of good practise and process
Week 9 Health and Safety: This will be an introduction to aspects of heath and safety needed when working with vulnerable people
Week 10 Effective Care Planning: Learn how create a care plan aligned to case studies and build your confidence in compiling and working with information to support the individual
Week 11 Care Sector Specific Employability Skills: This group session will be co delivered with employers to support learners with interviews, CV and confidence skills
Week 12 Practical Care Ready Day: Working with a qualified nurse you will have the opportunity to work at practical stations on simulated wards

You are guaranteed an interview within the adult care sector with the employers who are supporting and working with us on the 'Care Ready' Boot camp. You will be equipped with up to date knowledge and skills combined with the care certificate that will enable you to progress into your chosen career.
This short course is meticulously planned with input from employers to provide you with the knowledge and practical experience necessary to pursue new opportunities or enhance your current capabilities in the healthcare sector.
