Join our free, 12-week Skills Bootcamp It runs for 10 hours each week, on Tuesday all day and Wednesday morning. This program is for anyone over 19 who wants a rewarding healthcare career. Your skills can make a difference every day.
In this in-person program, you’ll gain essential skills. You'll earn the Gateway level 2 award in Health and Care infection control, moving and handling, and person-centred care. Learn from industry pros with real NHS and care home experience.
After finishing the course, our network of employers guarantees you an interview with local nursing and care homes. Our dedicated Work Placement Officers will support you during and after the course. We ensure you’re job-ready and career-ready.

Week 1: Induction Day and Vacancy Profiling
This session will welcome you to college. You'll meet the teaching team and learn about course standards. You’ll log into IT systems. Employers will join to talk about job openings and the work environment.
Week 2: Lifespan Development (PIES) In teams, discuss how aging impacts us at every stage of life.
Week 3: Legislation and Policy Learn about duty of care, roles, and responsibilities. Take part in a peer quiz to reinforce practice and processes.
Week 4: Health and Nutrition Discover what keeps us healthy. Create a Public Health display.
Week 5: Infection Control Work with staff and employers to create clinical details for an article.
Week 6: Moving and Handling Learn the basics of moving and handling from a health professional.
Complete a practical assessment.
Week 7: End of Life Care Explore case studies with guest speakers. Assess individual needs using person-centered values.
Week 8: Safeguarding Learn essential practices and processes with guest speakers.
Week 9: Health and Safety Learn about health and safety when working with vulnerable people.
Week 10: Effective Care Planning Create a care plan based on case studies. Build confidence in compiling and using information to support individuals.
Week 11: Care Sector Employability Skills Join a session with employers. Improve your interview, CV, and confidence skills.
Week 12: Practical Care Ready Day Work with a qualified nurse at practical stations in simulated wards.
Applicants must be 19 years of age or older, have lived in the UK for the past three years, reside in England, have the right to study and work in the UK, hold no similar qualifications, and we welcome both unemployed individuals and those employed who wish to work in this sector.

You are guaranteed an interview within the adult care sector with the employers who are supporting and working with us on the 'Care Ready' Boot camp. You will be equipped with up-to-date knowledge and skills, which will support your application for your chosen job role in this sector.
