The Rail Industry is experiencing some of the most acute and persistent skills shortages of any UK sector, driven
by a combination of long-term structural issues, an ageing workforce, rapidly changing technology, and shifting investment patterns so now is a great time to join.
Course Overview
• The program lasts for 11 weeks and focuses on developing vital skills for railway track maintenance.
• Training takes place on an National Skills Academy Rail (NSAR) approved training site.
• Expert trainers provide continuous support and guidance throughout the course.
Key Features and Qualifications
• Earn a Level 2 Diploma and Technical Certificate.
• Obtain a green CSCS card, which is essential for working on construction and rail sites.
• Progress to a specialised 2-week Safety Critical course upon successful completion of the diploma.
• Gain essential industry competencies and tickets including PTS AC, DCCR, OLEC 1, and Track Induction.
• First Aid: Level 3 First Aid at Work; this higher-level certification is a valuable for site safety.
• Receive an official Sentinel card, which grants the necessary credentials to work on Network Rail infrastructure.

*Eligibility and Requirements
- Applicants must be aged 19 or over.
- Candidates must legally reside in the UK.
- You must be in receipt of Universal Credit or ESA.
- All candidates must be able to pass a drugs and alcohol test.
- If you are aged between 19 and 23, you must already hold a full Level 2 qualification to be eligible.
