Our Diploma in Counselling Skills level 3 is perfect for you if you want to advance your training or work in a counselling support role. This course builds on the skills from level 2 and highlights the importance of theory in counselling. You’ll focus on self-awareness and how you affect others.
You will deepen your understanding of counselling theories. This will help you develop the skills and attitudes needed to practice these approaches. Personal growth and understanding will also be a key focus, enhancing your empathy for others. Through coursework, you’ll learn to work effectively across cultures and with diverse groups. You'll also improve your research and oral presentation skills.
To achieve this qualification, you must complete five mandatory units:
- Theoretical Approaches to Counselling
- Work Ethically with Counselling Skills
- Developing Counselling Skills
- Counselling Skills and Diversity
- Counselling Skills and Personal Development
These units deepen your understanding of counselling theory, strengthen communication and ethical practice, promote respect for diversity, and support personal and professional growth, providing a strong foundation for advanced counselling study and practice.
To enrol on this course, you must have completed a level 2 Counselling course or an equivalent qualification.
The college offers an online level 2 Counselling course (code C6693), which can be completed prior to applying for this Level 3 Diploma.
Applicants must also be aged 19 or over, attend a welcome event, and pass an interview and demonstrate a good command of written and spoken English.
Please note: spaces are limited, and priority is given to candidates who have successfully completed a relevant level 2 qualification and met all progression and interview requirements.
- Annual Tuition fee: £2225
This course forms a thorough preparation for professional counselling training and future career progression. Most employers, and increasingly clients, understand the importance of using a therapist who is professionally trained and fully qualified and is a valued member of a recognised professional body such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
You will need details of your qualifications and employment history to complete your application. Once your application has been successfully processed, you will be invited to an interview at the College to meet your tutors, learn more about your chosen course of study, and tour the facilities. You will then be offered a place on the programme, and you need to confirm your acceptance of the course offered to you.
