This course offers a broad and engaging curriculum in health and social care. You will expand your knowledge of this field through hands-on work and a work placement. This experience will help you build useful skills for your studies. You'll gain both practical and investigative abilities. The course is great for those with a strong interest in progressing in this sector. It inspires you and boosts your skills. You'll learn to work with others, solve problems, and improve your study habits. These are all valued by employers.
As part of this course, you must complete a work placement in a healthcare setting. This will help you gain practical skills. You'll also understand what it takes to succeed in caring services and in level 3 studies.
If you are aged 16 to 18, you will participate in a study programme. This includes retaking GCSEs or doing Functional Skills in English and math if you haven't yet achieved a grade 4 or above.
You will take part in activities that build your character and confidence. These will help you live well and prepare for your chosen career.
For ages 16 to 19, we will schedule these activities with work experience and placements. You can also opt for extra activities.
For other age groups, we will customise activities to meet your needs.
You will study different topics to help you get ready for work or further study in health and social care. These include Equality, Diversity and Rights, Communication, and Working in Health and Social Care.
You will also learn important skills for the workplace, such as teamwork, meeting deadlines, and giving presentations.
If you do not yet have a GCSE grade 4 (C) or higher in English or maths, you will also study these subjects as part of the course.
A GCSE in both English and maths at grade 3 (D) or above, and one further GCSE at grade 3(D) or above is required.
- Material fee: £30
- Annual Tuition fee: £1080
This course can help you find junior roles in the sector, like residential care. After completing the course, you can pursue a level 3 Diploma in health and social care or childcare if you meet the entry requirements. You may also consider apprenticeships in this industry. Our independent careers advisors at Leicester College are available to speak with you about your next steps.
Apply online via the College website. You will need details of your qualifications to complete your application. Once your application has been successfully processed, you will be sent a conditional offer and be invited to an interview at the College to meet key staff, learn more about your chosen course of study, and tour the facilities. You will then need to confirm your acceptance of the course offered to you.
