Our established digital media department offers this course aimed at those who are interested in photography and media. It is a practical course and requires creative talent and a committed attitude. There is a strong emphasis on research, development, and evaluation.
The course is a one-year full-time programme that leads to entry onto our range of level 3 Creative Media, TV and Film or Photography qualifications.
This qualification is equivalent to x4 GCSEs grade 4. If you are re sitting GCSE English and Maths or equivalent you could be studying up to 6 GCSE equivalent on this single year study programme.
You will also be required to complete a work experience placement and an employability programme.
The modules in year 1 include the following: film, photography, digital editing, digital design software, personal development, and a creative project.
The first two terms deal with investigation, communication, practical skills, and production in the creative specialist media and photographic areas, plus personal development. In the final term you will progress your creative skills through the development and production of an extended response to a creative brief - here you apply the skills you have developed throughout the programme to produce a proposal and practical response to the set creative project.
Learners taking this qualification study four units:
- A1 Skills Development
- A2 Creative Media Project
- B1 Personal Development
- C1 Responding to a Creative Brief
You will requirea minimum of three GCSEs at grade 3, one must be in a design or media GCSE related subject, one in English (literature or language), and one other. Maths grade 3 is desirable.
You will also require a portfolio which demonstrates your suitability for your chosen course.
If you are aged 16-18, you will be enrolled on a study programme, which will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths, if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above.
