This is the first year of a two-year level 3 qualification and is (equivalent to 1.5 A Levels). Successful completion can lead to entry onto the Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A Levels). If you have an interest in film and television, want to discover how to understand, plan, produce and present different moving-image products and are creative, analytical, and work effectively on your own and in a team then this is an ideal course for you.
Our Diploma in Creative Media has a specific focus on TV and film production. This includes every stage of the process from idea generation to editing. The course will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to the moving-image industry. It will also give you all the skills you need to prepare for a career in this sector.
If you are aged 16-18, you will be enrolled on a study programme, which will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in Maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will also be required to complete a work experience placement and an employability programme.
Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance. 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) including English is required. GCSE Media or Film studies and GCSE Maths at grade 4 (C) or above is desirable. An online film reel, social media profile or portfolio will support your application.
Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19 who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.
