The purpose of this qualification is to develop your knowledge and understanding of a range of topics relating to environmental sustainability including control of global warming, reducing carbon emissions, alternative energy sources, conservation, environmental monitoring and energy management.
On average the course takes 15 weeks to complete. The time frame depends on the time you have available and your prior knowledge.
Whether working online or with paper materials you are supplied with all the information required to complete the course. The assessments are made up of questions asking you to describe, explain, identify or list information. To be able to pass this qualification answers must be in your own words, using sentences and paragraphs.
You will complete the following units.
Principles of sustainable communities
Principles of sustainable development
Principles of sustainable energy management
Principles of sustainable transport
Principles of waste management
Social responsibility of business in relation to sustainability
The qualification is most relevant to those already in employment and is applicable across sectors. It forms part of a wide ranging strategy of business improvement and lean management.
You must be over 19.
During the application process, you are asked the following: Please describe why you have chosen this course and what you hope to gain from completing it. Please include anything you already know regarding the subject. This helps us check this is the right course at the right level for you. We also need to confirm that you haven't completed the qualification, or similar, before. This is for funding purposes.
We ask for a description, for this you must write in full sentences, we would expect around 2 paragraphs.
If you do not meet the required standard, we will give you a second opportunity to answer the question. If the required standard is still not met, we will sign post you to our careers team for advice and guidance.
If you are not a British Citizen, you may have to complete a Right to Study Assessment, or provide a Share Code, to ensure you qualify for government funding. We cannot fund you if you live in a Devolved Area.
We are unable to grant extensions on Unit 1, please only apply to do this course if you are ready to start it now and have time available.
- Annual Tuition fee: £0
The level 2 distance learning courses are funded which is great news. If you are not a British Citizen you may need to complete a fee assessment to check funding eligibility.
Please note that, upon successful completion of your course, you will receive an e-certificate by email. Printed certificates are not provided as standard. Awarding organisations have moved away from issuing physical certificates to support environmental sustainability, reduce their carbon footprint, and make it easier to obtain a replacement certificate if required.
If you would like a printed certificate, this can be requested at a cost of £46, payable by the learner.
We have a huge choice of distance learning courses available at both levels 2 and 3. At the end of your course, your tutor may suggest a suitable option for you or you can contact the distance learning team to advise you on the courses available. We also have a careers team available via phone email or in person who can help to plan a career pathway for you.
