This two-year, full-time programme dives deep into the health and social care sector. It’s perfect for students eager to make a difference. The course gives you the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to succeed in various care professions.
During your studies, you’ll finish 100 hours of practical work placement over two years. This lets you apply what you learn in real-world settings that match your career goals, whether in nursing, social work, midwifery, or another care area.
This qualification is equal to three A Levels. It opens doors to university degrees in health and social care, higher apprenticeships, or direct entry into the workforce. You’ll create a solid foundation for a rewarding career in this essential and fulfilling field.
In the first year, you will study topics like human lifespan development, working in healthcare, anatomy, and physiology. You’ll look at the needs of service users and how you can support them professionally. You will also complete 50 hours of placement this year. All of work you learn in year one will help support you in your second year studies.
In year two, you will continue exploring the needs of the individual in a variety of settings with complex needs. Units such as mental health and wellbeing, supporting those with individual needs, and working with individuals with dementia is an example of the units you will study. You will complete at least 50 hours of placement during this year.
You will need five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English Language.
Students progressing from level 2 Health and Social Care must have achieved an overall grade B (or equivalent) to move on to the level 3 course.

There is a £30 material fee.
This fee is waived if you get the college's learner support fund. Apply for this support after you apply to the college, but before your course starts.
This course offers several options for your next steps. After completing the qualification, you can focus on specific jobs. These include domiciliary care, care support worker, or care home advocate, among others. You can also choose to pursue a national apprenticeship in health and social care or a degree in that field.
Apply online via the College website. You will need details of your qualifications to complete your application. Once your application has been successfully processed, you will be sent a conditional offer and be invited to an interview at the College to meet key staff, learn more about your chosen course of study, and tour the facilities. You will then need to confirm your acceptance of the course offered to you.
