This GCSE course helps to develop your knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts, problem-solving and mathematical reasoning skills. Through studying this course, you will become more confident in the following topics: number, algebra, geometry, probability and statistics and ratio.
You will develop your mathematical reasoning skills and learn how to apply the skills you have acquired to solve mathematical problems.

You do not need to have any previous qualifications. The entry requirement for the course is the successful completion of an assessment (duration 1 hour). This will assess whether you have the necessary maths skills to enrol on the course.
You must be able to attend every session of the course throughout the year, as well as completing at least three hours of independent study every week to give yourself the best chance of success.

This qualification could be used to support your progress into further education and/or employment. Many employers require employees to have a grade 4 or above in mathematics. GCSE maths at grade 4 or higher is increasingly becoming a requirement for many higher-level courses, such as teaching, nursing, social work, sciences and engineering.
Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to take an initial assessment and then be invited to enrol, or we will discuss alternative options for you.
