If you have ever wanted to up cycle furniture or learn how to make curtains or cushion covers this is a fabulous option for you. You can bring your own piece of small furniture to restore or up-cycle, or you could choose to learn how to make curtains, cushion covers or blinds.

You can purchase certain materials through the College. All tools and equipment are provided.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

You will learn useful upholstery skills and techniques by transforming an existing piece of small furniture from your home. Footstools, blanket boxes and dining room chair seats are all ideal pieces to up-cycle, as well as soft furnishings such as curtains and cushions.

This is a workshop-based course where you will be developing skills and techniques necessary to complete your soft furnishing project guided by a tutor.

You will be guided through every step of the process but please be aware, you will have to transport your piece of furniture to College at the start, and then from College once the course has ended.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements other than being over 19 years of age and having a piece of furniture to restore or soft furnishings project in mind.

How you will be assessed

At the start of the course, you will decide with your tutor your personal targets for the course. Your targets will be unique to you and your project. If you have met your targets by the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance.
