Textiles Techniques Sketchbook – C8019

Course Overview

This seven week course aims to introduce and advance your skills using a range of exciting textile techniques. You will be encouraged and guided to explore a variety of techniques using a range of fabrics, media, and methods to produce a collection of small samples, along with images and colour themes to build up an A4 reference sketchbook/Flip file. Your samples will be supported with notes and handouts which you can then use to develop your own future projects.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

During this seven week Adult Creative Textiles programme you will study the following topics:
Devore/Tyvek/Angelina fibres
Shabori/Tie dye
Wonders with bondaweb
Machine Embroidery
Silkpainting/Silk, sat and dye
Reverse applique/Applique
Felt making

All topics are covered in our specialist textiles workshops with an experience tutor. Classes take place at our St Margarets Campus near the Leicester City Centre

Entry Requirements

No previous experience is necessary, just an interest in the subject.

How you will be assessed

There are no assessments or exams. Your tutor will support and guide you through the course and help you develop your skills through one-to-one feedback. Your tutor will agree individual targets with you.

Course and Career progression

This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to progress onto other areas of practical crafts. You will have opportunities to progress onto more advanced courses, or you may wish to take your experience forward into designing and producing your own work at home, utilising the skills you have developed.

What Happens Next

There is no interview required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study.
For enrol and pay courses: Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short learner details form online and pay the course fee. Once you have done this, you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and payment.
