This online, one day course, is offered at regular intervals year-round (50 weeks of the year including non-term times). This accredited qualification is suitable for you if you are 19+ and interested in knowing about the legalisation surrounding safeguarding children.
This is an ideal opportunity if you work with vulnerable adults or children and is often a requirement by employers to have this knowledge prior to employment. If you are successful you will gain a nationally recognised qualification that will support your job applications and help you gain employment in many social and educational environments.
Please note that the actual qualification title is Awareness of Protection and Safeguarding in Health and Social Care Adults and Children and Young People, Early Years and Childcare.
What You'll Learn
During this online programme of learning, you will develop your knowledge and understanding across the following areas:
1) Understand and explain what the terms harm, abuse and neglect mean when referring to protecting vulnerable adults and safeguarding children
2) Understand the indicators of harm, abuse and neglect
3) Describe the boundaries of confidentiality
4) Explain who is responsible for protecting vulnerable adults and children
5) Identify what organisations should do to protect vulnerable adults and children
6) Identify sources of support and information.
This is a level 1 course and although there are no formal entry requirements, a reasonable level of literacy is expected i.e. you can write and speak to make yourself understood.
How you will be assessed
You will complete short mock tests following completion of the learning for each unit and when you feel confident and following a discussion with the tutor, you will then complete a multiple-choice online exam.
Tuition Fees (19+): £30.00
You will not be required to pay a fee for this course if you are in receipt of one of the following benefits:
JSA or ESA (Employment and Support Allowance Work Related Action Group)
Evidence of benefits will be required on the application.

On completion of this award, your tutor will be able to provide advice and guidance on other online or distance learning courses or classroom-based programmes. What Happens Next
Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements of the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course.
