Course Overview

The course uses sport as a tool to deliver functional skills in practical environment. You will work towards improving your functional skills at entry level and also benefit from the opportunity to play a team game. The course also requires you to take part in a volunteering programme where you will be asked to work with other learners as a mentor in order to develop your employability skills.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

You will work towards recognised accreditation in both maths and English at entry levels 1-3 using sport as a theme to focus learning and add meaning. You will learn how to work in a team and then offer advice to younger learners who have just left school. You will be given training and support to be a mentor to enhance your own self confidence, communication skills and employability skills. You will be supported by a job coach and complete a work log.

What Happens Next

Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study. You will also be able to meet your tutors, learn more about your chosen course of study and tour the facilities. You will then need to confirm your acceptance of the course offered to you.

For enrol and pay courses: Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short learner details form online and pay the course fee. Once you have done this, you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and payment.
