Course Overview

This 7-week beginners’ course will introduce you to the key features of Apple iPad creative software – Procreate. You will study with an industry specialist. The College has the latest current IT suites and Adobe software for you to successfully learn in a friendly adult environment. Through practical exercises that use drawing and illustration techniques, you will explore the app’s functions.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

Learn how to set up Procreate and select the best canvas size. Through practical exercises that use drawing and illustration techniques, you will explore the app’s functions. Confidently use layers and have fun with blend modes. Experiment with digital brushes and learn how to import new ones or create your own. Draw with shapes and create a personal colour palette for your images.
After learning the basics, you will put it all into practice, either by creating a personal drawing or illustration or completing an illustration brief set by the tutor.
*tablets and stylus can be provided or bring your own.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, however having some formal knowledge of drawing and visual recording would be advantageous

How you will be assessed

You will be introduced to techniques through group demonstrations and benefit from individual feedback. There is no formal assessment but you will be set personal targets from your tutor.

You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study.
For enrol and pay courses: Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short learner details form online and pay the course fee. Once you have done this, you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and payment.
