Course Overview
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introductory teaching qualification. It was previously known as PTTLS . The award is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working, or intend to work, within an FE college, adult and community learning centre or learning provider and for those delivering work-based training such as within voluntary, community, private and public organisations.
This is a full cost course. There is no fee remission available and you cannot apply for an advanced learner loan to pay for your fees.
What You'll Learn
Year 1
This qualification gives you an introduction to teaching and explores various roles and responsibilities associated with a teaching role within the education and training sector. This includes an introduction to lesson planning, exploring concepts such as behaviour management, learning theories and approaches, motivation, assessment, and some actual practical teaching experience via a micro-teach.
Entry Requirements
You are required to have English and maths skills at level 2. If you do not possess certificates in English or maths (GCSE A-C or equivalent) then a short written test will be required.
How you will be assessed
You will be assessed via three written assignments and a practical teaching task.

On successful completion of this qualification, you can progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training if additional requirements are met. Opportunities are also available to specialise in English, maths or e-learning as part of a progression route which will help in gaining a place on the PGCE/Diploma if you don’t yet have a specialist qualification.
What Happens Next
Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study.
