This level 2 NVQ diploma in plastering has been designed to allow you to complete this qualification in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification.
This qualification enables you to demonstrate your skills knowledge, understanding and competency in your place of work. This qualification will enable you to work as a plasterer within the construction industry.
An apprenticeship is a job with training. You will be employed at least 30 hours a week, with 80% of your working hours in your day-to-day role, and the remaining 20% of your time engaged in training or study.

What You'll Learn
You will learn:
1) Producing internal solid plastering finishes in the workplace
2) Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
3) Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
4) Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
5) Applying solid render to background surfaces and producing finishes in the workplace
– Applying finishing plaster to prepared surfaces in the workplace
In year 2 you will build upon the workplace skills you learnt in your first year and then take these to the next level in the following years of your apprenticeship, including:
1) Laying sand and cement screeds
2) Installing mechanically fixed plasterboard
3) Installing direct bond dry lining systems
4) Applying projection plaster and rendering and maintaining equipment
5) Producing cement castings
There are no formal entry requirements to take this qualification. This qualification can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.
You may need to complete English and maths, or a Functional Skills qualification to fit within the apprenticeship programme and cover the core English and maths requirements for the workplace and further study.

How you will be assessed
For you to complete your diploma you must demonstrate your learning to an assessor and by the completion of various practical assessments that cover the criteria, these are marked and all grade either, distinction, merit, pass or fail.
Assessment events for this Diploma are:
Two Synoptic knowledge test Online multiple choice that covers health and safety 70% required for a pass. And principles of construction grade either, distinction, merit, pass or fail 60% required for a pass.
Four Synoptic knowledge unit end test, paper-based multiple-choice that covers the criteria for each unit 60% required for a pass.
Synoptic practical where you complete a selection of practical assessment tasks in a controlled environment. These assessments cover the range of criteria set for this qualification.
If for any reason, you do not pass this apprenticeship, you may be required to cover the costs of the endpoint assessment.

Course and Career progression
On completion of this qualification, you will have obtained the skills, knowledge and understanding and demonstrated competence to progress on to a higher level qualification in the same or similar occupational area or enable entry into supervisory and management positions within the workplace.
The industry will accept the qualification on its own as entry to a job role. You may well progress on to the level 3 apprenticeship programme.
