Engineering technicians in the aerospace, aviation, automotive, maritime defence and wider advanced manufacturing and engineering sector are predominantly involved in highly skilled, complex work. Some of the expectations and competencies include: 1. Applying safe systems of working 2. Making technical contributions to either the design, development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of products, equipment, systems, processes or services. 3. Applying proven techniques and procedures to solve engineering/manufacturing problems. 4. Demonstrating effective interpersonal skills in communicating both technical and non-technical information. 5. Continued professional development. You will take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work, within the limits of your personal authority. You will also need to demonstrate a core set of behaviours in order to be competent in your job role and complement wider business strategy and development. This will help to support your long-term career development. An apprenticeship is a job with training. You will be employed at least 30 hours a week, with 80% of your working hours in your day-to-day role, and the remaining 20% of your time engaged in training or study.
