Course Overview
This course is for adults aged 19+. Leicester College has a long history of teaching digital printing and online editing and publishing courses.
This is a five week/15 hour Adobe Photoshop course introducing you to the basic tools, techniques and processes in photo retouching and photo montaging.
It is primarily for those who have limited knowledge of Photoshop but are interested for personal, professional or design use.
This course is an adult-only course for 19-year-olds or above.
What You'll Learn
Year 1
This Adobe Photoshop CC introductory course will cover a basic introduction to:
-Basic tools and options for each tool
-palettes and windows, view menu and custom palettes
-resolution for different products including print, screen
-colour modes for print and screen
-basic adjustments, tone, shadows, highlights and colour
-basic transformations, scaling, rotating, flipping, perspective
-retouching; patching, healing, cloning, sharpening, dodging and burning
-masking and montaging.
You will cover the theory and basic application of the above tools to a resolve a range of digital image problems.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements.
How you will be assessed
There is no assessment. You will undertake a series of weekly formative exercises and tasks. These can also be undertaken at home.

Course and Career progression
This is a basic course for designers, photographers, hobbyists, or enthusiasts. it can lead to an advanced Adobe Photoshop course. This can in turn lead to part time or full time graphic design or digital arts courses or junior graphic design work/photography.
The course can also combine with other Adobe courses at Leicester College including the Adobe Illustrator and digital photography, as well as Light Room.
What Happens Next
Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study.
Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short learner details form online and pay the course fee. Once you have done this, you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and payment.
