Course Overview
This Higher National Certificate course is a fantastic opportunity to develop a range of essential travel and tourism management skills to further career opportunities in your chosen sector.
Each unit caters to the increasing need for high quality professional and technical education at level 4, providing students with a clear pathway to employment or progressing into further higher education.
The blended structure of this course means you attend one full day at college whilst balancing your significant proportion of your studies at home. In addition, it is expected that you will gain vocational experience through part-time work as well as engage in independent research into the topic under investigation, an essential part of completing the programme. Also, as an incentive you will be given a £250.00 voucher once you have successfully completed the first semester.
On successful completion of the Higher National Certificate, you may progress on to a Higher National Diploma (equivalent to the second year of a degree) and from there is the opportunity to progress into university to top-up to a full Degree (third year).
What You'll Learn
Year 1
During this course you will be given the opportunity to choose from a selection of general international travel and tourism pathways, as well as six areas of specialism:
1. The contemporary travel and tourism industry
2. Managing the customer experience
3. Professional identity and practice
4. Managing aviation services
5. Managing conferences and events
6. Travel and tourism business leadership and management for service industries
Entry Requirements
Entry to this course requires you to have a recognised level 3 qualification and GCSE English and maths at grade 4 (C) or equivalent.
We welcome applicants who do not meet our standard entry requirements but they must be able to demonstrate the ability to study this subject at university level, and have evidence of relevant work experience.

During this course you will be assessed on all modules with a combination of case studies, presentations and written assignments.

Course and Career progression
On successful completion of this Higher National Certificate, you can continue with a Higher National Diploma Business ‘top-up’ (equivalent to the second year of a degree). After that, you may choose to progress onto a full degree at university, gaining a BSc in Business.
