This course is for adults living, working or studying in Britain who do not have English as a first language and are interested in a career in the care vocational area. The course will help you develop your English language skills and also gain a Level 1 Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children's and Young Peoples Settings qualification. The course will help you learn English speaking, listening, reading, writing, maths and ICT, whilst learning how to care and work with children, vulnerable adults, and elderly people. This course is available at various venues across the city and at various times of the week.
Entry requirements for this course are English at entry level 3. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be completed at the beginning of the course, please see additional cost if extra charge is applied to you.
Progression is possible to a higher level English course and/or to a Level 2 Childcare or Health and Social Care qualification the following year. The course also gives you the opportunity to progress to employment in Childcare or Health and Social Care. working with children, vulnerable adults or elderly people.
Apply online via the College website, or if your school uses the Positive Steps @16 (PS16) application system please apply through this and speak to your careers advisor if you are unsure. You will need details of your qualifications and employment history, a reference, and a personal statement to complete your application. Once your application has been successfully processed, you will be sent a conditional offer and be invited to a Welcome Event at the College to meet your tutors, learn more about your chosen course of study and tour the facilities. You will then need to confirm your acceptance of the course offered to you.
