Course Overview
This course will enable you to explore a range of vocational areas of study. These will include Business, ICT and Employability skills. Studying Entry level 3 provides an introduction to the skills, qualities and knowledge that will be required for employment and opportunities for progression onto a level 1 course. You will complete a range of units, be organised and take assessments that will demonstrate your skills. You will also study English and maths at the same time.
What You'll Learn
Year 1
The units you will study will be:
Using Technology for a Purpose. This unit is about using technology for work-related purposes such as research, recording, communication, creating and presenting. Looking at different types of technology such as phones, software in a practical and hands-on way.
Designing a product: In this unit, you will look at the types of products you would like to design.
Living with Online Technology: In this unit, you will develop skills in using technology to complete an everyday task. You will develop digital skills in understanding in protecting your identity, your data and yourself when working with technology.
Problem-solving by thinking creatively: This unit will help you develop the skills to think creatively. You will develop skills that will help you to come up with new ideas.
Other units you will study are: Creating a product, Skills for Learning and Finding out about a Topic.
Skills for Learning. The unit will develop new skills for your studies and will show you how to improve the skills you already have.
Entry Requirements
Entry requirements are as follows:
– Entry 2 in English and Maths
– Aspirations and enthusiasm
– 95% attendance
– 95% Punctuality
– Reference from a previous educational establishment
How you will be assessed
The Entry 3 qualification will be delivered through theory and practical sessions. You will create portfolios with the relevant evidence of skills and knowledge for each unit.

There is a £70 material cost fee. This covers any trips the department will organise to events and enrichment.

Course and Career progression
Having successfully completed this course with a qualification in English and maths at the appropriate level you can apply for the Introductory Diploma in IT Level 1 or any other qualification for your chosen pathway. You may also apply for any part-time evening courses subject to their minimum entry requirements.
What Happens Next
Once your application form has been submitted, you will be invited for an interview. You will receive full details of the course units and interviewed 1 to 1 basis. You will then be offered a place on the course, sign the application and you will then receive a letter with details of enrolment form completed before August 2019.
