Course Overview

This programme has been designed for adults, looking to develop their confidence, resilience, skills, qualifications and experience so you feel more confident in searching and applying for a job.

This two-week full-time programme will be delivered face to face at our City Skills Centre in the City Centre. Our team of friendly supportive tutors will provide ongoing support to help you achieve this accredited qualification.
Throughout your time on the programme, you will have opportunities to discuss any additional support and development needs.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

During this programme, you will take part in a variety of different learning activities under the guidance of an experienced tutor. During the programme you will cover the following topics:

Developing personal success
Developing your resilience skills
Building your confidence and self esteem
Searching for jobs online
Customer service
CV writing
interview preparation

The courses have been designed to develop your overall confidence in both work and non work related activities.

Entry Requirements

Over 19 on 31st August 2022
Entry Level 3 or above in English, with good spoken English
A reasonable level of IT skills
In receipt of UC / JSA / ESA
Must be able to commit to the full 2 week programme, Monday – Friday.
Must be able to follow instructions.

Course and Career progression

During the programme, there will be an opportunity to have a one-to-one meeting with one of our career advisers to discuss further opportunities.

At the end of the course, you will be invited to a review where your progress and aspirations are discussed.

You will also have the opportunity to apply to further courses within the College that match your future aspirations or work-based courses.

What Happens Next

Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements of the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course.
For applications via JCP, please let your Work Coach know. Subject to individual eligibility and type of benefit, the vast majority of courses are FREE to people in receipt of an employment-related benefit JSA, Universal Credit or ESA (Employment and Support Allowance).
