Course Overview
This course is for adults aged 19+. Leicester College has a long tradition of teaching outstanding digital photography, printing, design, and online editing and publishing courses. Our professional studio, darkrooms and digital editing suites (along with a little help from lecturers and supervisors) provide outstanding facilities for full- and part-time students.
White balance, resolution, pixels, aperture, shutter speeds… if you are confused by these terms this is the right course for you.

The course takes place at our St Margaret’s Campus, here you can broaden your knowledge of digital photography and progress your career or personal aspirations with this part-time course. Our expert teaching staff will support you with completing ongoing assignment tasks in our outstanding creative facilities. You will develop your confidence in using digital cameras, editing software to produce professional skills in photography.
What You'll Learn
Year 1
The aim of this workshop is to give you confidence in using a digital camera, downloading your images and digitally outputting your work. You will be able to use your camera both in the studio and on location. You will require your own Digital SLR or standard camera during sessions. We can adapt our delivery to different makes and types. You will be given one or two basic briefs/tasks to work on.
Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications required, however, you will benefit if you have some previous experience and a keen interest in photography. You will require your own Bridge, Mirrorless or DSLR camera.
How you will be assessed
There is no formal end of course assessment, only a series of in-class practical exercises and tasks. A group exhibition can be arranged and your individual targets will be set by your tutor.

Other courses you can look at after the studio certificate could be the Higher National Certificate in photography or other digital qualifications at this level. After successful completion of this course, it may be possible to progress onto a foundation degree in photography.
