Course Overview

This course is to plug the skills gap in the digital world and it is designed for adults aged 19+. Today 90% of jobs require specific IT skills. This is a course where you will be learning digital skills in order to be more employable and to increase your chances of employment. You will learn about the basics of digital technologies. This is a course that starts at an entry level 3 and you will end up with a Level 1 qualification.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

You will use digital technologies to organise documents, produce a variety of documents from templates such as letters, posters, business card and learn to process data. You will use digital technologies to send and reply to emails and make digital graphics. You will also use digital technologies to find information and store information.

Entry Requirements

Entry level English and some use of IT at beginner level.

How you will be assessed

You will be assessed through tasks and exercises in the classroom. Also the examining board provides the assessments for the internally assessed units. Initially 3 live assignments per unit are being produced with an additional assignment being added annually. In each assessment you will be given full details of the assessment criteria.

Course and Career progression

This course lends itself to progressing to a Certificate at IT User Skills at Level 1 or an Award at Level 2 IT User Skills. There are other progression options. There is also the full time full entry level at IT Users which starts in September where you will be able to progress your skills further in your chosen subject and can also include English and maths.
