Course Overview
This one day course is designed to help various industries, organisations, and businesses better understand the challenges of climate change, global warming, carbon commitments, emissions to air, and airborne pollution. It will inform and support organisations and businesses in deciding on the appropriate environmental actions and level of involvement needed to address current climate change issues and organisational carbon commitments.
What You'll Learn
Year 1
Over the full day programme topics will include:
– Causes of climate change, local and global impacts
– Global warming, green house gases and emissions
– Albedo effect, solar irradiation
– Carbon principles, sequestration, sinks and feedback loops
– Carbon footprint, trading and off-setting
– Emissions trading and reporting
– Climate change regulations and legislation
– Current legislation
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this course, but it is designed for adults aged 19+ who want to enhance their knowledge and skills in green practices within their organisation or business.
How you will be assessed
A short online assessment will be given to check your overall understanding of the topic. The assessment will use multiple-choice questions.

The purpose of the course is for the student to have a better overall understanding of the chosen topic and be able to relate and communicate this back to their company or organisation in improving sustainable and environmental credentials. The course also relates to other full time higher and further educational courses at Leicester College, specifically in both construction and engineering disciplines.
