This 7-week course will give you the chance to work with clay on a small scale, using design work and various decorative techniques to develop and make a range of ceramic jewellery or miniature sculptures, using your own unique motifs.
We will use hand-building and slabbing techniques, plaster stamps and moulds, and you can try your hand at colouring porcelain clay with stains and pigments.
You will be encouraged to use a sketchbook to design and develop your ideas, produce test-tiles and keep a note of the techniques and processes you use to inform your final piece.
What You'll Learn
During this course you will be:
Exploring the potential and limitations of plastic clay and porcelain in the development of small-scale, experimental, and non-functional objects.

Embellishment of traditional jewellery shapes, broaches, earrings and pendants, or abstract miniature sculptures.
You will understand the basics of test-tiles, staining clays, glazing bisqueware and firing. Health and safety in the workshop will also be covered.
