Course Overview

All businesses need enterprising employees to drive their organisations forward, to have ideas and initiatives to instigate growth, and to ensure that businesses survive in this fast-changing world.
People with enterprising skills can be a real asset to an organisation and these skills provide the basis for developing the entrepreneurial skills needed to run an enterprise. This course teaches you those skills deemed necessary by employers. Enterprise is a key government focus and is set to form an important part of the UK’s global economic status, both now and in the future. The skills provided by this course are a fantastic progression pathway into a number of roles in an organisation and are transferable into all businesses.
You will also be completing GCSE or Functional skills English and maths alongside the Diploma. Support will be provided with the timetabling of workshops and LEAP sessions.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

The course is a one year level two qualification and during this time you still study the following four units:

Unit 1: The Business Environment:
You will examine the environment and context in which businesses operate, to inform their understanding of how to be enterprising in business.

Unit 2: Researching a Concept for a New or Revised Product or Service:
You will investigate how enterprise ideas are generated and developed, and they develop your own ideas. You will analyse and interpret your own market research data to test the feasibility of one enterprise idea.

Unit 3: Promoting and Financing an Enterprise Idea:
You will cover the essential knowledge and skills required to design promotional activities for an enterprise idea and to develop a financial plan.

Unit 4: Planning and Pitching an Enterprise Idea:
You will develop a business plan, pitch the business plan to an audience of potential investors, and then use the feedback to revise your business plan and enterprise idea.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSE at grades 2 or 3 including English and math

How you will be assessed

Assessments are designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to skills and occupationally-based qualifications at this level.
In this qualification, Unit 1 is one external assessment and Units 2, 3 and 4 are assessed through internal assessment.

Additional Costs

On enrolment, there will be an administration fee of £50 if you should need to re-sit external exams (per exam) is estimated at approximately £40.00
A fee of £50 will also be charged to cover the costs of trips and guest speakers during the course of the year.

What Happens Next

Upon completion of the application form, you will be invited to attend a Welcome event during which time you will be interviewed by a member of the teaching team. If you are successful in the interview you will be offered a place on the course. You can also attend one of our Open Days or careers events where both welfare and careers advice are available.
The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy prides itself on a professional image and therefore does not permit its students to wear jeans, trainers, caps, hoodies, sweatshirt tops/bottoms. You must therefore demonstrate a willingness to wear the appropriate smart clothing.
