This Business Diploma programme (equivalent to two A levels) incorporates a range of essential skills needed to progress into a career in the world of business or higher education. The diverse nature of this course gives you an insight into all sides of the industry, allowing you to focus on the aspects that interest you the most and help you on the path to employment with a suitable career choice.
You will learn about the intricacies of Business across a range of topics, including: 1. International business 2. Principles of management 3. Visual merchandising 4. Managing a business event The aim is to develop your general understanding of key business areas, leaving the opportunity for further study in higher education as well as building towards senior roles in established businesses or starting your own enterprise.
You must have achieved a minimum of 3 merits and completed the 360 hours Extended Certificate course. You also need a strong reference, a minimum of 95% attendance and complete the interview process.
Assessments take place through a combination of portfolios, presentations and BTEC exams. You will also be expected to take part in work experience placement or industrial placement, as these are crucial to your employability skills and development. In addition, as part of the study programme, you will take part in workshop sessions, tutorials and other employability skills.

Apply online via the College website, or if your school uses the Positive Steps @16 (PS16) application system please apply through this and speak to your careers advisor if you are unsure. Alternatively, you can complete the Leicester College application form available on our website. You will need details of your qualifications and employment history, a reference, and a personal statement to complete your application. Once your application has been successfully processed, you will be sent a conditional offer and be invited to a Welcome Event at the College to meet your tutors, learn more about your chosen course of study and tour the facilities. You will then need to confirm your acceptance of the course offered to you.
