Our one-year study programme (equivalent to one and a half A levels) incorporates the intricacies of exploring business and all that it entails: personal and business finance, develop a marketing campaign and then on to visual merchandising and managing an event. After successfully completing year 1 you can progress to the extended diploma (equivalent to 3 A levels) for year 2 of your studies.
The broad spectrum of subjects gives you the best opportunity to try a number of different elements which are utilised within the business sector giving you an insight into specific areas, one of which may be your future career.
If you are aged 16-18, you will be enrolled on a study programme, which will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven’t already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will also be required to complete a work experience placement and an employability programme.
What You'll Learn
During the course, you will study six different units that will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to either enter the workplace or progress onto the Extended Diploma in Business. Some of the units you will study include: exploring business; finance; marketing; event management; and customer service. Recent cohorts have taken part in live projects with local employers thus linking their academic study to the workplace.
Standard entry to this course requires a reference, 95% attendance in your last place of study or work and five GCSEs at grade 4/5(C) or above including English and maths. A minimum of grade 5 for maths would be an advantage.
Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19 who hold equivalent English and maths qualifications.
