This is a blended learning full-time course giving you the opportunity to achieve a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in business over the course of one year. The blended course structure will require you to attend one full day at college whilst completing the remainder of your studies at home. The HNC is equivalent to the first year of a degree and will provide you with a range of essential business and management skills to further your career opportunities in your chosen sector.
It is intended that you will gain vocational experience through part-time work as well as engage in independent research into the topic under investigation (the independent study is a vital element of succeeding on the programme so commitment is essential).
What You'll Learn
The course consists of core and specialist units including marketing processes and planning, accounting principles, human resource management, business environment, leadership and management and a business research project. The specialist units include innovation and commercialisation and entrepreneurial ventures.
Learning takes place through taught sessions and independent research, which is intended to help you gain the depth of understanding for a range of topics from application to assessed assignment criteria.
Standard entry to this course requires a minimum of 32 UCAS in a level 3 qualification (i.e. A-Level, extended/subsidiary diploma, Access to HE or T-Level) in a related subject.
You are also expected to hold GCSE English and maths at grade 4 (C) or equivalent.
We welcome applicants who do not meet our standard entry requirements but can demonstrate the ability to study this subject at university level and have evidence of relevant work experience.
How you will be assessed
You will be assessed across a combination of case studies, presentations and written assignments.
