Course Overview

This programme aims to provide you with professional work-ready skills and commercial business knowledge for successful careers in the Creative Industries. The programme is delivered largely through a ‘project model’ which reflects a modern multi-skilled approach essential to the development of a portfolio, freelance or employed career.
Emphasis is placed upon the development of skills and knowledge enabling you to become fully engaged, independent and critical practitioners who have the ability to project manage and understand the entrepreneurial and financial requirements for success within the broad Creative Industries. This will be achieved through significant research to support project proposal, the implementation of business-facing strategies to fulfil project realisation and professional development within relevant industries.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

The ‘project model’ basis of this programme requires you to research and propose a viable project proposal, the response to which will be executed in year two of the programme as a work-based project outcome.
Both the proposal and outcome are managed through subject specialist input and guidance relative to the assessed components for the Professional Development and Project Preparation module (year one) and Work Based Project modules (year two).
Year one will also see you developing a clear and work-ready Business Plan through Business Studies tuition.
You will also make a clear theoretical connection to your practice through the development and presentation of a 12 minute seminar and associated dissertation through the Creative and Critical Inquiry module.

Year 2

Year Two will build upon and bring to fruition outcomes in response to the Project Proposal as formulated in Year One of the programme. This will also include assessed evidence of research and development to final outcome.
The second year of the programme will also see you maintaining evidence of Continuing Professional Development via a blog and website.
You will demonstrate an adept approach to use of the Adobe suite in the assessment of a Collaborative Project,
The programme aims to support your ability to create and market your own work, contributing to the future shape of the creative industries, through response to live briefs and collaborative projects.
