This accredited qualification is suitable for you if you are 19+ and looking to gain confidence by improving your current skills and may need support to reach your life goals, including employment aims.
Particularly suitable for you if you are looking to returning to work after a period of unemployment and would like to take the first step into being positive about your future. There will be support available and the session is delivered in a very safe and friendly manner, ensuring that all students feel comfortable and at ease.
This is a supported classroom-based, one day course which is offered at regular intervals throughout the year (50 weeks of the year including non-term times).
What You'll Learn
During this one day course, you will take part in a variety of different learning activities including supported online learning, classroom teaching, discussions and watching short media clips where you will be able to achieve the following skills:
1) Be able to identify your own strengths
2) Identify priority areas (skills and qualities) that you would like to improve
3) Identify how you could make those improvements
4) Set yourself achievable targets to support your decision to improve
This is a level 1 course and although there are no formal entry requirements, a reasonable level of literacy is expected i.e. you can write and speak to make yourself understood.
How you will be assessed
You will complete a variety of short practical and written tasks that will be formally assessed by your tutor to enable you to create a portfolio of evidence.

You will not be required to pay a fee for this course if you are in receipt of one of the following benefits:
Universal Credit, JSA or ESA (Employment and Support Allowance Work Related Action Group) or low waged. Evidence of benefits will be required on the application.

On completion of this award, your tutor will be able to provide advice and guidance on other programmes. These might include additional qualifications related to computing skills or other short vocational programmes. This qualification will support anyone to gain employment whilst improving your confidence by gaining new skills and qualifications.

What Happens Next
Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements of the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course.
