Course Overview

This exciting 7-week course, will take place in the Abbey Park Campus Theatre. The Intermediate Acting: Refining the Craft course is designed for adults who have completed our beginners’ acting course and are looking to further develop their acting skills. This course delves deeper into acting techniques, character development, and scene work. Each week, participants will engage in more advanced exercises, scene studies, and character analysis to refine their craft.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

Over the 7 weeks, the course aims to take participants to the next level of their acting journey. It offers a comprehensive exploration of advanced acting techniques, improvisation skills, character development, and ensemble work, ultimately preparing students for more challenging acting opportunities and roles in the future. This course will build upon all of the skills and techniques you have developed in your ‘Acting for beginners’ course.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements are that you must have completed our 7-week ‘Beginners Acting Course’ and be over 19 years of age. You also need to have an interest in acting and performing or gaining skills that would help when presenting to people.

How you will be assessed

This is a practical course with no exams and no coursework. However, in discussion with your tutor, you will be set targets that need to be completed by the end of the course.

To find out more, please speak to your tutor about the options available towards the end of your course, as well as our Careers Advisors at the College, who can help and guide you with your next steps.

What Happens Next

Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to come into College if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study.
For enrol and pay courses: Once you have decided to take the course, you need to fill in a short learner details form online and pay the course fee. Once you have done this, you will receive an electronic confirmation of enrolment and payment.
For applications via JCP, please let your Work Coach know. Subject to individual eligibility and type of benefit, the vast majority of courses are FREE to people in receipt of an employment-related benefit JSA, Universal Credit or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).
