The ACS Met 1 assessment is a half-day assessment. This assessment is for gas engineers whose gas work includes installing new meters, exchanging old meters for new meters, and permanently removing meters and all the commissioning processes that are included with this. Candidates must hold a current CCN1 core gas safety assessment prior to applying. This is a full cost course. There is no fee remission available and you cannot apply for an advanced learner loan to pay for your fees.
This is not a taught course, but rather an assessment you should prepare for in advance. You will be tested on your knowledge and understanding of gas cooking appliances. This assessment will take place in controlled conditions. The College is a BPEC-accredited assessment centre working to nationally recognised standards. All learning will have taken place whilst you are working in industry or have taken a retraining programme.
You will need to be employed/self employed and demonstrate previous CCN1 certification and element certification which is either currently active or less than 12 months expired.
The assessment is completed in the newly constructed ACS gas centre at Freemen's Park Campus. Candidates are advised to have sufficient experience on this type of equipment prior to taking the assessment. Candidates must hold a current CCN1 and applicants who cannot produce their original certificate must contact the ACS office for advice.
