Course Overview

This evening course has been designed for electricians, contractors, and those requiring a working knowledge of the latest edition of the level 3 award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 qualification. This course is delivered either online or in a classroom over three days and provides in-depth training on the 18th edition of the IET Wiring Regulations and will include a final two-hour examination on the full content of the regulations.

This is a full-cost course. There is no fee remission available and you cannot apply for an advanced learner loan to pay for your fees.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

The IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) are the definitive standards for the electrical industry in respect of safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems. They set requirements and operating criteria for the UK and correspond to EC standards and are recognised by the British Standards Institute as a British Standard (BS 7671).

Entry Requirements

Be able to understand and use the current IET regulations BS7671:2018 and have use of a copy of BS7671:2018.

How you will be assessed

Formative assessments and interactive quizzes will be carried out throughout the course on completion of each Part of the wiring regulations, you are expected to fully engage with these assessments.
One multiple choice online test 60 questions.120 minutes are allowed. This is an open book assessment.

Course and Career progression

It allows you to progress into employment or to the following City Guilds qualifications: level 3 2365, 2391 inspection and testing. Electrical courses require you hold a current version of the 18th Edition wiring Regulations prior to undertaking them. The BS7671:2018 forms part of the Electrical Competent person scheme.

Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements for the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study.
