Reporting Absence
Attending college regularly, and when timetabled, is important. It gives you the best chance to progress in your course. It also supports you to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need for your next steps.
If you are unwell or unable to come to college, you must let us know.
You should let us know by login onto ProPortal and give us details in the comments section.
SMS and email alerts
If you don't inform us of an illness or absence, we will text and email you as soon as the register is marked for the class. You may also received a text and email if you are late (and haven’t let us know you’ll be late in advance).
If you are 16 or 17 when you start college, we will also send a text and email to your parent/carer, or other nominated adult.
What to do if you get a text or email
Go to ProPortal and let us know why you are absent.
Look at any resources relating to the lesson/session(s) you have missed (this might be on Moodle or MS Teams). Make some notes on anything you do not understand.
Speak to someone that was in the lesson to get any clarity around the topics covered. If you are still unsure message your teacher via MS Teams or ProPortal.
What to do if you are a parent, carer or nominated adult
There is no need to contact us unless there is an ongoing issue which you want to discuss with us.
If you receive a text or email about a student’s absence please
Talk to them about why they didn’t let us know they would be absent.
If they were late talk to them about the importance of being on time and how to make sure they are on time in the future.
Encourage them to look at learning materials that are available on MS Teams and/or Moodle.
