Excelling in electrical installation and advancing through an apprenticeship
Leicester College Electrical Installation T level student, Tanvir Singh, has attained a distinction.
Tanvir is now embarking on his journey to become an Installation Technician through an apprenticeship, which he started in September 2024.
Why T levels at Leicester College?
Tanvir explains: “A friend who started a year before me recommended that I consider a T level, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions that I've made. Hearing about their positive experience and how the programme effectively combined hands-on work with classroom learning convinced me that it was the right path for me, too.
“My experience over the past two years at Leicester College has been great - everything from the teachers and the course to the actual college was good. Everything was pretty straightforward, just coming to the College, learning and taking the knowledge with you.”
Gaining skills for life with T levels
Tanvir continues: “Whilst being on the course, I did 315 hours of work experience. In the first year, we were encouraged to find a work experience place so we went around and found employers.
“For me, it was 45 days of being on site learning the basics of electricals. I would say this was extremely helpful as I am going onto doing an apprenticeship and have gained the skills I need to thrive in it.”
T levels are worth it
"I would definitely recommend T levels if you're looking to challenge yourself and gain in-depth knowledge. However, if that’s not the right fit for you, an apprenticeship is also a great alternative," concludes Tanvir.
