Childcare through T Levels

“I came for a Level 2 diploma at Leicester College but T Levels were advocated and really appealed to me. They’re equivalent to 3 A Levels, with workforce experience, the ability to show skills rather than just exams, and you can learn-by-doing with placement hours.

“Although there are assignments within the placements, it’s not all exams and assignments and you get a real skills pathway. I enjoyed learning from employers in real life. At my nursery placement, I was providing snacks and meals, attending to children’s needs, planning activities and undertaking visual risk assessments. In the second year, I was in a primary school where I led phonics sessions and helped with sports days and trips. It opened my eyes to the curriculum. I was at the Freemans Park nursery for five weeks and enjoyed the environment. I now have a permanent job there and am looking to stay for the long-term.”

“T Levels allow students to flourish, highlighting your individual talent and skills. The tutors work around you and the skills learnt stay with you for life.

“The mock nursery was so interactive and by working with employers, we can adopt our learning by taking this knowledge and expressing it through practice. “There’s also a chilled approach at Leicester College, less stressful in comparison with A Levels.”
