T Level work placements help with learning midwifery
“I’ve always been interested in supporting mums and people going through hard times in life,” says Maisie Gibbons. “I came to an open day at Leicester College to look at T Level courses and was drawn to them as they offer more practical and placements experience, and generally more opportunities than A Levels.”
Maisie enrolled on the T Level Health and Sciences specialising in Midwifery course at Leicester College.
Maisie continues: “During the course, I’ve been on two work placements – the first involved antenatal techniques such as hypnobirthing and baby massage, and the second was in a family centre, working with vulnerable people including teenage mums.
“The balance of coursework and work placements gives you different opportunities to gain experience in the workplace.
“I would recommend a T Level to people. They are more practical, providing you with more first-hand experience and they’re taught by people with industry experience.
“After I complete my course, I’m planning on taking a Masters degree with midwifery and ultimately, working abroad as a midwife.”
