A cut ahead on Barbering course

Luuqman Sattar has come a long way since he started practicing haircuts on friends when he was 15. After finishing Year 11, he enrolled on the Barbering Diploma Level 2 course at Leicester College.

“There was a lack of enthusiasm from other friends but one friend let me cut his hair then and now I’m training, he gets free haircuts!” says Luuqman.

“The Barbering course at Leicester College was recommended to me and was the only one that met my requirements.

“I’ve learnt new skills with scissor cutting, colouring, perming and shampooing. The perming/colouring were new to me, I hadn’t thought about those things before.

“Everyone gets along well on the course. We understand each other and it’s a good network of students. The lecturers are wonderful and really understand us.

“Everyone needs a barber so it’s a good craft/skill to learn. It’s also a qualification that takes you around the world so when I start working, I want to open my own shops with the brand name - LS Cuts. My dream place is to end up in is Dubai.”
