Combining family tradition and personal passion
Kosarad Majeed-Ray wanted to study mechanical engineering as he enjoyed it as an option in secondary school, and most of his family members were in engineering.
Kosarad says: “I had applied for the T Level in Mechanical Engineering in year 11 as I was sure I wanted to do a more engineering-focused course and Leicester College’s course looked very good, as it wasn’t just theory-based but it included practical work.
“A highlight of the course for me was the work experience and my time in the prosthetic limbs workshop where I learned manufacturing, machining and sizing.”
Focus on maintenance
Kosarad plans to pursue an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering with an external company, focusing on maintenance trades after his T Level.
Kosarad concludes: “I would recommend this T Level to those people who know that they want to do engineering and who are ready for work experience. They should be open to a hybrid course of practical and theory work.”
