Fast-track your future with Leicester College’s Skills Bootcamp they are flexible, employer-led training designed to help you gain the skills employers are looking for right now.

Skills Bootcamps are free, government-funded courses that help adults develop in-demand skills and progress into good jobs. Whether you’re looking to change career, upskill in your current role, or return to work after a break, our Skills Bootcamps offer a practical route to success.

You’ll gain an understanding of professional standards, communication, all while developing the confidence and competence to secure your next steps whether it is in education or the world of work.

Upon successful completion, students are guaranteed a job interview with a local employer, giving you the opportunity to put your new skills into action straight away.

Qualification you’ll earn

You might get a qualification from your Skills Bootcamp but not all will offer you one. If you are offered one, the level of qualification you’ll get will depend on the skills bootcamp you complete.

You can read the details for each individual Skills Bootcamp to check if you’ll get a qualification at the end.

While you might not get a qualification, Skills Bootcamps will help you get a job or get a place on a different course that will give you a qualification at the end.

Leicester College currently offers Skills Bootcamps in health and social care, with a view to expand in the near future.

After your Skills Bootcamp

After you’ve finished your Skills Bootcamp, you’re guaranteed a job interview with an employer.

You could also:

  • get a new job or apprenticeship

  • progress in your current job

  • find new business opportunities if you're self-employed

Entry requirements for Skills Bootcamps

You need to be 19 or over to do a Skills Bootcamp. For most Skills Bootcamps, you do not need to have any previous knowledge in the subject. You just need to speak a good level of English and have a willingness to learn.

Some courses may have additional entry requirements, such as needing you to have a certain qualification or experience. If there are any, they will be listed in the relevant course details.

Sector-based Work Academy Programme (SWAP)

A sector-based work academy programme (SWAP) gives jobseekers who are 16 and over, and claiming benefits, the opportunity to apply for jobs.   

This programme can last up to 6 weeks and includes:

  • pre-employment training, matched to your business sector and delivered by you or a local training provider  

  • a short work placement with your business 

  • a guaranteed job interview or help with your application process  

Leicester College has SWAP programmes with the NHS, in rail services and security.
