Leicester College offers vehicle repair courses for budding mechanics
29 September 2021
Leicester College is offering one-year courses for students interested in careers in automotive repair.
The Level 1 Diplomas in Vehicle Accident Repair, Paint Principles or Body Principles are taught at Leicester College’s well-equipped vehicle repair and refinishing, and mechanical repair workshops. Students will have access to advanced tools and equipment, combined with expertise from experienced and supportive tutors.
Students will gain both theory and hands-on experience of carrying out accident repair procedures. Teaching is delivered and assessed practically, coupled with written assessments and online exams.
Students aged 16-18 who don’t have a GCSE grade 4 or above in English or maths will be able to retake them or undertake a Functional Skills qualification, alongside the Accident Repair Diplomas.
On successful completion of the Level 1 course, students can progress onto the equivalent Level 2 programme or a Vehicle Mechanical Diploma, subject to entry criteria.
Entry to the courses require GCSEs in English and maths at grade 2 or above plus two further GCSEs at grade 2 or above, as well as a reference.
Ibrar Raja, Programme Area Manager, Motor Vehicle & Engineering at Leicester College, said: “For anyone interested in vehicle paint refinishing or body repairs, this course offers both the theory and the practical experience in modern vehicle repair workshops. In addition, the courses also give a rounded learning experience including personal development and employability sessions.”
