Leicester College learners celebrate A level success

Leicester College has seen outstanding results once again this year for A level learners, with a 95% pass rate in all subject areas of which 14% of the grades achieved were an A* or A.

As friends, Katie Driver and Keeley Evans, who both studied Art and Design, nervously opened their results together this morning, huge smiles spread across their faces as Keeley revealed she had gained one A* and two A grades in Fine Art, 3D Design and Photography. After a big hug and a few tears of joy, Katie also revealed her outstanding results of two A*’s and one A in Fine Art, Textiles and Ceramics.

Katie added: “This is so amazing! Art was the only thing I wanted to do at school and now I have straight A* and A’s. I’m so proud right now and can’t wait to tell my family the good news.”Keeley exclaimed: “I was trying to be realistic and had hoped for B’s but to get these results was so unexpected! This will definitely help with my university scholarship too.”

Keeley has guaranteed her place at Glasgow University to study History of Art, Philosophy and Latin with her results, meanwhile Katie is moving on to study a Foundation Degree in Art and Design at Loughborough University.

She said: “I was speechless when I opened my results, I just couldn’t believe I was seeing three A’s staring back at me.20-year-old Rumaysah Sidat was also overjoyed to learn she had achieved three A grades in A2 Level English Language and Literature, Maths and Biology and now couldn’t be more certain about a bright future ahead of her as prepares to study Biochemistry at Leicester University.

“The exams were stressful as I had a lot to fit in, but I made myself a timetable to keep myself focussed. I had such a great time at College and an excellent relationship with my tutors too, which made the subjects more interesting for me.”

Principal of Leicester College, Maggie Galliers CBE, said: “I’m extremely proud of all the learners who’ve achieved excellent AS and A2 level results this year. This reflects the hard work, commitment and dedication of both the learners and the College.”
