Learners and staff from Leicester College have once again showcased a stunning array of artworks at the city museum alongside works by different artists from Leicester and the East Midlands.

Khalil Maniyar, Chelsea Whitehead, Sarah Jane York, Jordan Matthews, Liam Maxwell-Jones, Chris Smith, Amelia Fairly and Corrine Wilson all have work exhibited and are all enrolled on the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design.

The group have all submitted their works at the New Walk Museum and Gallery as part of the Open 25 Exhibition.

One learner, Liam has even sold his painting. He said: “I am surprised and very proud at the same time. Just to have the chance to display my work in a public gallery is an amazing opportunity, so to have sold one is even better.”

Their works are included in this year’s exhibition where there are 350 exhibits by 243 artists.

A-level Fine Art and Design lecturers Sue Graham and Christine Johnson-Hume are also exhibiting their works at the Exhibition, alongside their learners.

They are based at the St Margaret’s Campus and teach A-Level Fine Art in painting, which includes life drawing. Their submissions were also included in last year’s collection.

The A-level courses they teach also include photography, textile design, graphic communication, ceramics and jewellery as well as fine art.

Sue submitted two paintings at the exhibition this year, both set on the cost of Norfolk, where she gets her inspiration.

The Open 25 Exhibition is open to the public until 27 April 2014.Christine submitted three paintings, one of which has already sold. She travels to Derry, Northern Ireland for her inspiration. Christine won the Print Shop Prize last year for her submission).
