Four learners from the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy (PJEA) at Leicester College win the annual CIPS Negotiation Challenge 2016.

The winners were Ben Webbe, Juhil Dilipkumar, Hassan Jama and Kiran Kaur who received a trophy, framed certificates and £50 Amazon vouchers.

Hassan Jama said:

“Our aim was to collectively work as a team and stick to a strategy together. This helped us win the challenge. We went into the challenge feeling like the underdog so it was a great feeling to win.”

The CIPS Negotiation Challenge is a team-based competition providing Peter Jones Enterprise Academy learners with negotiation skills and knowledge, which is organised and delivered by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), the professional body for procurement.

The final challenge took place on Wednesday 4 May 2016

at Walgreen Boots Alliance HQ in Nottingham. Four PJEA academies from around the country and six teams took part in an inter-team challenge activity where the teams negotiate head-to-head with one another.

Emma Scott, Representation Manager at CIPS said: “Leicester stood out as a confident team who had a clear strategy and took early control of the negotiations.  They not only made the most money during the competition, but demonstrated true entrepreneurial spirit by taking a calculated risk in order to benefit their fellow team mates as well as maximising their own assets.  Their willingness to collaborate for a win-win situation demonstrated to me that they fully understood the art and science of negotiating.”

Andy Brown, Arc Blue said:  “Leicester triumphed at the Negotiation Challenge, through having a flexible strategy, a friendly approach and an ability to make decisions using well defined roles within the team, overall this stood them above an excellent set of teams on the day.”
