Leicester College has announced a new partnership with plumbing and heating company, Aaron Services, which operates across the East of England and the Midlands. Aaron Services has donated around £2,000 worth of plumbing and heating equipment for Leicester College’s plumbing, heating and gas students and apprentices to use for their practical training, with ongoing donations of older equipment pledged in future months.

The initial donation from Aaron Services’ strategic supply chain partner in Leicester, City Plumbing, has already been received - including baths, sinks and copper piping, with further stock to be delivered later this year. The equipment will be collected periodically as new replacement units are installed for Aaron Services’ clients in Leicester, including PA Housing.

In addition to these donations, Aaron Services will also support a programme of work placements and apprentices for the forthcoming academic period.

Gavin Spurdens, National Strategic Account Development Manager at City Plumbing commented: "At City Plumbing, we're committed to doing our bit to help address the skills shortage in our industry. Donating these products is just one way we can support young people get the skills and experience they need to succeed in their heating and plumbing apprenticeships. We wish the cohort the best of luck with their studies!"

Kirstie Payne, Bids and Marketing Director at Aaron Services said: “Aaron Services works across a large geographical footprint and we are forming partnerships with colleges in areas where our clients housing stock, and in turn our local presence, can readily be called upon to support the local community and to help develop the next generation of engineers. The PA Housing contract in particular, allows us to make use of their older equipment, and repurpose it to support local students and apprentices at Leicester College.

“Around 10 percent of our current workforce are apprentices so we’re committed to developing these programmes and will be working with Leicester College on a number of work placements and apprenticeships.”

Tina Jivraj, Business Development Manager at Leicester College added: “Our staff and students are really grateful for the donation. The materials supplied by City Plumbing, with more to follow from Aaron Services, will help our apprentices to enhance their skills in their training programmes at the College.”
