Two winners at the Leicester Mercury Education Awards 2017!

Leicester College won two awards at the Leicester Mercury Education Awards 2017 on 9 December 2017 held at the King Power Stadium.

Apprentice Jake Dominy who currently works as an apprentice Bricklayer for William Davis was awarded Apprenticeship of the Year and presented with his award by our Principal, Verity Hancock. Further to Jake Dominy’s accolades this year he was also a finalist in the UK National Final of WorldSkills 2017, getting recognition of his great work and was highly commended in the competition.

Jake is currently working for William Davis at their flagship Grange Park Development in Loughborough, a family owned company that has been building homes for more than 80 years in the Midlands area and it is a trusted construction company with award-winning work.

Gary Long, apprentice manager at William Davis Homes said: “Jake’s success this year has been outstanding and thoroughly deserved. He is a hard-working and enthusiastic student who listens, seeks advice and generally shows a real willingness to be the best he can. To be able to say he is one of the UK’s best apprentice bricklayers is an incredible achievement and everyone at William Davis Homes offers sincere congratulations.”

Support Staff Member Jo Gee was also given the recognition she deserves for her hard work at the College and won Support Staff of the Year.
