Emily Gammell is currently on a journey to explore her passion for learning about the film and theatre production of make-up by studying level 3 media make-up at Leicester College.
Emily had previously completed her level 2 at Leicester College and chose to stay at the college to study further and progress onto her level 3.
“My interest in make-up started when I was 11 and I started doing that when I was at home by myself and then when I was 16, I did my beauty therapy level 2. That’s where we do basic make-up. I then went onto my level 2 and level 3 media make-up,” says Emily.
Grow with Leicester College
Emily continues: “One thing I learned when I did my level 2 and Level 3 media make-up was hair mainly. I was awful when I had first started and I’m not saying I’m brilliant now, but I’ve definitely progressed throughout the year.”
Emily says learning hair and makeup together is important as “they go both hand in hand, hair and make-up. It really just encourages you even more to do both of them when you leave college. Instead of just learning one, you can always do hair and make-up for the likes of bridals.
“The favourite thing I’ve learned on the course was high fashion and fantasy make-up – I love the creativity of it.”
Emily’s forward vision
“In the next three years, I see myself doing bridal and special occasion make-up, possibly freelancing as well.
“My goal is to have my own salon where I would be a beauty therapist and a make-up artist as well.”
